We recently stayed a Saturday night at this motel. We had a room with 2 double beds. Entry to the motel is a bit disappointing - there is no lobby in sight - it is a bit dark and you need to walk in a ways to find the lobby. The ambiance of the lobby area is very ordinary - more towards plain than plus or premium. We have stayed in 4 or 5 BW "Plus" motels in the past several months - so we compared this one to them. This one is the weakest of them all, and the Plus rating seems questionable. Our room was small - seemed like a room that maybe once had a king bed and now has 2 doubles squeezed into it. The TV faces the window - not the beds - it can be turned slightly, but I have never seen a room with the TV facing away from the beds. The furniture is sparse - older, chipped and worn. The carpet is dark and also a little worn. The pillows on the bed are big and plump and hard - not that comfortable. The bar fridge is not on - to save energy the sign says. But, for a one night stay, it might take all night for it to get cool. Never seen this before. This motel does not have any sort of complimentary breakfast - all the other BW Plus motels we stayed in had a complimentary breakfast. This is an OK place to stay - but closer to a "plain" than "plus" or "premium" establishment.
helpful and caring staff. clean and quiet hotel. movie channels not working the night we stayed. Fridge not plugged in to conserve energy. plenty of parking. htl located close to major road edge of city easy to find
like the chain, but not this one specially the room that we got in the 2nd floor..I think they need to update the aircon since it took us an hour or so to feel it and the smell of the room seems so old.
I attemped to stay at this hotel recently. Upon arrival in the first room, we found rodent feces which we presumed to be from mice. Since then I noticed that previous posts mentioned mice, and I can confirm those to be true. They sent someone up to the room to inspect what I had found and he refused to confirm it was rodent feces and made no apology what so ever but offered to give us another room. They offer to upgrade me to a "better" suite which they said was in a different building. In fact, it was not in a different building it was just on the other side. When I arrived there, we found small larvae like bugs crawling in the carpet. I told them we couldn't stay. The front desk staff was very kind and understanding and said they would speak to the manager about a refund. They said I would receive a call the next day. I never recieved a call, but at least they refunded my money. I am not usually a complainer, in fact I work in customer service so I hate do this, but it's a risk to your health to stay there. Front desk staff was nice, but the managment needs to make some serious changes. I would not reccomend anyone stay at this hotel for personal safety and health reasons.
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights to visit Canadian friends after a week in Banff. I feel the quality of this hotel is poor and am just thankful we'd had a good experience in Banff prior to coming here. The hotel is in a good location for access to Edmonton mall with good parking facilities. However the room decor was incredibly dated and the wallpaper was peeling off the wall. The rooms are dark and dingy and the dust in the air conditioning unit on the wall would put you off using it. We would have to wait 15 minutes for the TV to get a clear signal before being able to watch it. The coffee making machine was incredibly temprimental and appeared to work one minute and not the next (this was also the case in our friends room too). The plug sockets sparked whenever you put any plugs in. This hotel is incredibly noisy which you would expect with its location however listening to a dog barking from one of the rooms does not make for a restful stay. We felt very let down for the amount we paid a night for this hotel. Even if they could brighten the rooms up a bit it really would make a huge difference.
We have stayed at the BW Westwood Inn for years now on business.. The catering staff goes out of their way to see that all is taken care of. We enjoy the restaurant / room service as it is so handy. The housecleaning gals are so friendly & helpful. The front desk is quick and efficient as well.....Put us down for next time!!
On the outside it looks like it's a nice hotel and it is as well, inside The hotel staff are really friendly and do help out when needed to. The breakfast is very general (ham@eggs,toast) for about 8.00 dollars; coffee is an additional 2.00 dollars. There are other choices for breakfast and lunch as well.Price is good. Lounge downstairs doesn't have as many choices for dinner but what they have is really quite good. Price is right there as well. The lounge has the new VLT's there; nice place to kill some time in between meetings. I enjoyed my stay there, was there for 4 nights. Rooms are about 120.00 dollars per night; helps to have a Best western rewards, or AMA Card.
Naren was the most amazing person I've ever experienced in all my years of staying in hotels. His kindness, helpfulness, knowledge and attentiveness are unparalleled. I needed to receive some very sensitive documents and find some resource people in Edmonton and he helped me immeasurably. He made the experience manageable and as stress free as possible. Naren is a tremendous asset to the Best Western Hotel chain. Congratulations on hiring such an outstanding individual. Sincerely Patti
This hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was close to West Edmonton Mall as well as a variety of restaurants. Great if you don't know your way around the city.
There is NO PLUS in this hotel. There was no continental breakfast, although it advertised that there was in the pamhlet that is in every room. There was no hot tub in this hotel, which should be mandatory with a pool. There was NO complmentary highchairs or playpens, although it was advertised in the pamphlet that is in every room that there was and there was a black magnet with white lettering on the front of the black fridge (it just blended together) that said "Fridge is turned off to save energy". After an 8 hour drive we did not notice what the magnet actually said until the next day, which resulted in having to pour out a litre of Soy Milk for my grandson. Perhaps letting customers know upon check in that they have to turn their fridge on or actually having a staff member go and turn the fridge on 20 minutes before check in time would have been a nice, considerate and common sense kind of thing to do. Customer Service did not seem to exist in this hotel but, false advertising certainly did. The bed that I slept in was bouncy and squeaked every single time I moved. Very annoying.
